Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Charlotte, NC
Permanent
$32 - $35 p/h

About the Role

We're a well-established food manufacturer based in Charlotte, NC, investing in our production capabilities and taking the next step toward greater automation across our lines. We're looking for an Industrial Maintenance Technician with strong electrical and mechanical skills to help us get there - someone who can think independently, work flexibily across the plant, and bring ideas on how to improve our machines and systems.

This isn't a clock-in, clock-out role. We want someone genuinely engaged in the process, comfortable making calls on their own, and motivated to grow as our automation footprint expands.

What You'll Do

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production and facility equipment
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and utility systems across the plant
  • Support production lines to minimise unplanned downtime
  • Assist with equipment installs, upgrades, line modifications, and automation projects
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reliability, and process efficiency
  • Maintain parts inventory and coordinate with vendors when needed
  • Work to all food safety, GMP, OSHA, and plant safety standards

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years maintenance experience in food, beverage, or manufacturing environments
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills - comfortable with motors, drives, panels, and control systems
  • Solid mechanical skills across conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise on the fly, and make sound decisions without close oversight
  • Someone who brings ideas - not just fixes what's broken, but suggests how to make it better
  • Comfortable working in cold, wet, and production environments
  • Languages (English/Spanish/Creole) a plus, not required

Nice to Have

  • PLC troubleshooting exposure (Allen-Bradley or Siemens) - full programming not required, but comfortable diagnosing and supporting automation systems
  • Experience with automation upgrades or new equipment commissioning
  • Food safety or audit experience (FDA / USDA / GMPs)
  • Leadership or lead technician experience

Schedule & Environment

  • OT available
  • Mon-Fri schedule
  • Manufacturing plant environment (cold, hot, wet)
  • Some extended hours, weekends, or on-call support may be required
  • Work location: In person

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision
  • 401(k) matching
  • Disability insurance
  • Tuition assistance
  • Paid time off
