Position Summary

Reporting to the President, the Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) Manager is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality within a food manufacturing environment. As a key member of the leadership team, this role requires a strong ethical foundation and the ability to think critically about food safety, quality systems, and continuous improvement.

The FSQ Manager oversees the Quality and Sanitation functions and drives a best-in-class food safety culture through training, compliance, and cross-functional collaboration. This role partners closely with Operations, Sales, Purchasing, and R&D, and plays an active role in customer complaint resolution and audit readiness.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop Quality Assurance and Sanitation teams, including supervisors and hourly employees
  • Manage hiring, training, performance reviews, coaching, and disciplinary actions as needed
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to strengthen and continuously improve the FSQ system
  • Promote a strong food safety and quality culture through training and employee engagement
  • Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs and quality programs across the facility
  • Recommend quality and production standards that support best practices and operational efficiency
  • Manage supplier approval and ensure supplier compliance with food safety requirements
  • Support customer requirements by providing specifications, COAs, and program documentation
  • Maintain constant audit readiness and lead food safety audits
  • Manage SQF, Organic, Non-GMO, and other food safety and quality programs
  • Utilize manufacturing and quality systems software to manage records, reporting, and automation

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related field
  • 3+ years of Quality Assurance or Quality Control experience in Food & Beverage manufacturing, including leadership responsibility
  • Strong technical knowledge of food safety and quality systems
  • Experience with SQF or other GFSI-recognized standards (trained practitioner preferred)
  • PCQI and HARPC certification required
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Continuous improvement training is a plus

Work Environment 

  • Combination of production office and manufacturing floor environment
  • Frequent exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and food-related odors
