Maintenance Supervisor

Primary Objective

This role is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the daily activities of a technical maintenance team across a facility. The position involves prioritizing tasks based on outstanding work orders, emergency requests, and ongoing operational needs, whilst aligning assignments with individual technician skillsets. In addition to daily coordination, the role supports inventory management, equipment scheduling, and continuous improvement efforts. The position ensures timely and accurate reporting to leadership.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Supervise and delegate maintenance tasks daily based on operational priorities and technician capabilities
  • Review and prioritize maintenance work orders, preventive maintenance (PM) plans, and resource availability
  • Respond to urgent production support needs by quickly assigning technicians to critical areas
  • Monitor downtime reports and facilitate post-event reviews with team members to identify improvement areas
  • Develop and regularly optimize preventive maintenance schedules for site equipment
  • Ensure timely completion and closure of assigned work orders
  • Plan and balance workloads based on technician availability and skill level
  • Promote a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards
  • Participate in cross-functional maintenance and operations planning sessions for 2nd and weekend shifts
  • Collaborate on broader system-wide maintenance initiatives, including troubleshooting and standardizing practices
  • Lead the development and documentation of technical training and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Support succession planning and skill development for both individuals and the broader maintenance team
  • Support reduced 2nd shift operations and weekend operations when necessary

Preferred Background

  • Bilingual, Spanish & English speaking
  • Engineering degree, to allow for future progression within the company
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Competence in planning, scheduling, and cost tracking for maintenance work
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and digital work order platforms

Qualifications

  • A technical or engineering degree is heavily preferred
  • Relevant military or on-the-job experience will be considered
  • Experience with utilities, infrastructure, and equipment servicing
