ACE Partners are working exclusively with one of our partners operating in the Aerospace sector to source an Aviation Safety Investigator to work on their rotorcrafts. The Aviation Safety Investigator will conduct thorough investigations into aviation accidents and incidents to determine cause and makes recommendations to improve safety.

This is a full-time position and will be 40 hours a week minimum on-site in Torrance, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to aviation accidents and serious incidents worldwide, often with minimal notice.
  • Conduct on-site investigations, including wreckage examinations, part removals, and witness interviews.
  • Document and gather physical evidence and data through use of photography, note taking and other methods.
  • Perform detailed examination of aircraft parts and equipment to understand the accident/incident chain of events.
  • Collaborate with other investigators, federal, state, and local agencies, and operators, during an investigation.
  • Create and communicate comprehensive investigative reports including possible causes and contributing factors of accidents to various internal and external parties.
  • Participate in technical reviews, hearings, or meetings conducted by the NTSB, FAA, or foreign authorities, as appropriate.
  • Support legal proceedings by preparing and presenting statements and evidence.
  • Develop and advocate for safety recommendations that are well researched and effective in reducing risk.
  • Work with cross-functional teams within company to assess risk, determine root cause, and develop containment and corrective actions as needed for reported safety issues and those identified in the course of investigating accidents and incidents.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with the international accident investigation organizations.
  • Stay up-to-date with aviation systems, regulations, and investigative techniques.
  • Develop processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality, and efficiency of the work.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as an air safety investigator or relevant aviation experience in engineering, piloting, or maintenance.
  • Pilot's Certificate or an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate; possessing both is preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in Safety Management Systems (SMS), Risk Management, Human Factors, Accident Prevention, and Emergency Response Planning.
  • Strong understanding of aircraft design principles, loads, electronic, and mechanical systems.
  • Strong understanding of aviation procedures, policies, and regulations.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle sensitive information.
  • Have physical and mental fortitude to deal with accident site hazards, human remains, and austere environmental conditions in a professional manner.
  • Able to make sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes, incomplete or contradictor information to effectively solve problems.
  • Able to adapt in real time to match shifting demands of different situations including securing and using available resources effectively.
  • Must be proven self-starter requiring minimal supervision, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication which conveys a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
  • Team-oriented with excellent collaboration skills, possess a positive attitude, and work well with others.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products and other relevant software tools.
  • Excellent academic records.

Desired Qualifications

  • Masters degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • Experience with engineering desing, fabrication, integration, development, and testing of rotorcraft.
  • Manufacturing or maintenance quality assurance/quality control experience a plus.
  • Significant prior air safety investigation experience.
  • Formal training in aircraft safety and accident investigation.
