CNC Set-Up Technician

A leading Tier-1 automotive manufacturer in the U.S. is seeking a CNC Set-Up Technician with strong technical skills and hands-on machining experience. This position plays a key role in supporting day-to-day production operations within a remanufacturing facility.
The ideal candidate will have solid experience in CNC setup and operation, deep-hole drilling, and precision machining, as well as the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials for machining operations.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate basic and advanced machine tools for precision machining.
  • Align and secure fixtures, cutting tools, accessories, and materials onto machines.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematical and measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, etc).
  • Machine parts to exact specifications using lathes, mills, and related equipment.
  • Inspect completed units for defects and dimensional accuracy using precision instruments.
  • Monitor machine feed, speed, lubrication, and cooling systems during operation.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and engineering data to determine machining methods and sequences.
  • Diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions.
  • Clean, lubricate, and maintain machines, tools, and work areas.
  • Collaborate with engineering and tooling teams to improve processes and tool life.
  • Assist with basic fixture and tooling design.
  • Support continuous improvement through self-learning and technical training.
  • Operate one or more CNC machines daily, maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Record daily production data and identify non-conforming products.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of machining or manufacturing experience
  • Proficient in CNC setup and operation; deep-hole drilling experience preferred
  • Basic blueprint reading and machine shop math skills
  • Familiarity with basic programming
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 30lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Willingness to work overtime and flexible shifts as required
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication in English
  • Positive attitude, self-motivation, and strong work ethic
