Position Overview

We are seeking a Facilities Maintenance Manager to lead plant-wide facilities operations across a large, multi-building manufacturing campus (3.3m+ sq. ft.). This role oversees a team of 7 technicians plus janitorial staff and ensures all facilities, utilities, and building systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance in a 24/7 production environment.

This position is open due to retirement and offers strong visibility with senior leadership, along with the opportunity to directly impact operational efficiency and facility expansion projects. 

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and develop a team of 7 Facilities Technicians across 4 buildings
  • Set priorities, manage workloads, and ensure coverage across all production shifts
  • Support training, performance management, and employee development
  • Maintain a safe and compliant working environment

Facilities & Maintenance Operations

  • Oversee maintenance of building systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection
  • Ensure faciltiies are safe, compliant, and fully operational
  • Implement and manage preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime
  • Manage spare parts inventory and maintenance resources

Vendor & Contractor Management

  • Coordinate and manage third-party vendors (HVAC, electrical, fire systems, dock equipment, etc.)
  • Lead vendor selection, bidding, and cost negotiations
  • Ensure quality, safety, and compliance of all external work 

Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Support manufacturing expansion projects, especially electrical distribution and facility modifications
  • Manage capital projects: planning, budgeting, and execution
  • Lead weekly project reviews with leadership
  • Coordinate seasonal maintenance planning and facility readiness

Compliance & Systems Oversight

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety and fire codes
  • Oversee inspections, audits, and regulatory requirements
  • Manage building security, utilities, and space planning

Budget & Cost Control 

  • Develop and manage facilities budgets
  • Drive cost savings through effective vendor negotiation and competitive bidding
  • Monitor and control maintenance-related expenses

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in facilities and/or maintenance management within a manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years of supervisory or leadership experience
  • Strong hands-on technical knowledge of:
    • Electrical distribution systems
    • HVAC systems
    • Fire protection systems
    • Plumbing and general building infrastructure
  • Experience managing vendors contractors, and capital projects
  • Ability to balance hands-on work with leadership responsibilities
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office
