Maintenance Manager

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the effective and consistent management of the site's engineering practices and operations. This role is critical to achieving production and cost targets, minimizing waste and downtime, and ensuring that equipment, teams, and processes run efficiently while maintaining food safety standards. 

This position requires strong leadership to inspire, guide, and train engineering teams, ensuring they are motivated, multi-skilled, and committed to excellence. 

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Operations

  • Ensure smooth running of factory machinery and production readiness.
  • Oversee preventative and reactive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Drive continuous improvement in equipment performance and reliability.
  • Lead engineering teams to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate equipment records and a library of technical documentation.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Provide daily guidance, coaching, and visible leadership on the production floor.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and implement training plans.
  • Foster accountability and ownership with the engineering team.
  • Promote a clean, safe, and organized work environment. 

Maintenance & Projects

  • Develop condition-based maintenance strategies to maximize efficiency.
  • Evaluate projects against cost, time, and quality standards.
  • Manage supplier relationships and detailed specifications for new equipment.
  • Deliver projects on time, within budget, and aligned with operational needs.

Budget & Cost Management

  • Manage departmental budgets and control costs effectively.
  • Ensure efficient use of resources and prevent redundant stock build-up.
  • Treat expenditures with ownership and accountability.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food safety regulations.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through active engagement and leadership.
  • Conduct risk assessments and maintain strict adherence to company policies. 

Measurable Outcomes 

  • Reduction in equipment downtime and production waste.
  • Achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
  • Maintenance of costs at or below budgeted levels.
  • Zero food safety or quality rejections due to equipment issues.
  • Continuous improvement in KPIs, safety performance, and quality initiatives.
  • Project completed on time and within budget.

Work Environment 

  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to cold storage areas (with protective PPE provided).
  • Standing, lifting, and repetitive movement required for extended periods.
  • Frequent exposure to nuts and other allergens.
  • High-speed production setting with strict safety and food hygiene requirements.
