Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for providing consistent service and upkeep of manufacturing environment in a production facility. This position plays a vital role in achieving daily and long-term production targets through effective maintenance practises, with a focus on product quality, equipment reliability, and food safety. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Perform inspections and preventive maintenance on production machinery including motors, gearboxes, sprockets, chains, bearings, and related systems.
  • Conduct lubrication, filter changes, cleaning, and minor repairs to equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and respond to work orders in a timely manner.
  • Carry out corrective, preventive, and condition-based maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of preventive maintenance task lists and schedules.
  • Ensure equipment is calibrated and adjusted to optimal specifications.
  • Operate tools and diagnostic equipment (e.g. laptops, hand tools) to support maintenance activities.
  • Maintain documentation and provide feedback on maintenance activities.
  • Promote a strong culture of ownership, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Comply with safety protocols including job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by leadership. 

Qualifications 

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in industrial or food manufacturing maintenance preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic math, computer, and communication skills required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be flexible to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as needed.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) or RCP (Reliability-Centred Maintenance).
  • Familiarity with PLC programming, sanitary welding, or machine shop operations.
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration or electrical construction.
  • Ability to interpret maintenance data and technical documentation.
