Maintenance Technician

Job Description

We're working with a well-estbalished manufacturing facility in the food/CPG space that is looking to add a Preventive Maintenance (PM) Technician to its maintenance team. This role is heavily focused on PM execution, equipment reliability, and production line support.

The ideal candidate enjoys structured preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and basic electrical issues, and working closely with operations to reduce downtime and improve overall equipment performance. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventive, corrective, predictive, and condition-based maintenance on production line equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues to maintain optimal equipment performance.
  • Utilize maintenance windows effectively to complete PM inspections and corrective work.
  • Operate, set up, start up, adjust, shut down, and perform changeovers on assigned equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Support fabrication of small machine parts, guards, and modifications (preferred).
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems, including cylinders, valves, compressors, and piping.
  • Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement improvements to prevent repeat issues. 

CMMS & Continuous Improvement

  • Use MaintainX CMMS to create work requests, complete and close work orders, and document maintenance activities.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of documented maintenance procedures.
  • Apply learnings from emergency repairs to improve PM strategies and equipment reliability.

Team & Communication

  • Coordinate maintenance activities with production and maintenance leadership to support line efficiency and product quality.
  • Communicate effectively with technicians and leads across shifts to ensure continuity of maintenance efforts.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and best practises.
  • Maintain strong working relationships across all shifts.
  • Mentor and coach teammates as needed to strengthen technical and process knowledge.
  • Work with supervision to identify development opportunities and expand technical skillsets.

Quality & Food Safety

  • Follow all food safety, quality, and sanitation standards to meet SQF, regulatory, company, and customer requirements.
  • Maintain clean, sanitary, and well-functioning equipment during production and maintenance.
  • Complete required quality and safety documentation and checks. 

Health & Safety

  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including GMPs, Lockout/Tagout, HACCP, OSHA, Fall Protection, and Hot Work.
  • Report and correct unsafe conditions and behaviours.
  • Promote a safe and compliant work environment at all times. 

Qualifications

  • Trade school or technical training in mechanical or electrical disciplines (preferred)
  • 2+ years of maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Food manufacturing experience is a plus
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC systems
  • Comfortable using computers and maintenance software (Windows, Excel, Outlok, CMMS)
  • Strong time management and communication skills 

Shift

  • 2nd Shift ($29h/r - $30h/r)
  • Monday - Friday (2:00pm - 10:30pm or 2:30pm - 11:00pm)
