ACE Partners is supporting an innovative Aviation Technology company in the search for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a full-time, direct basis. 

This engineer will play a key role in the design development, prototyping, and production readiness of advanced electromechanical systems for UAS platforms. The role will suit someone who enjoys hands-on engineering work and can contribute across the full product lifecycle, from early concept development through testing, NPI, and manufacturing support. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design electromechanical systems and mechanical assemblies for advanced UAS platforms using SolidWorks
  • Support the full product development lifecycle, from concept generation and prototyping through test, refinement, and release to production
  • Develop production tooling, fixtures, automation jigs, and related manufacturing support equipment
  • Create, update, and manage engineering drawings, revisions, BOMs, and technical documentation throughout the product lifecycle
  • Maintain accurate product data, drawing structures, and revision control within the PDMS/PDM environment
  • Work closely with internal engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical, scalable, and ready for high-rate production
  • Identify, assess, and help qualify new vendors, suppliers, and manufacturing partners
  • General assembly procedures, inspection procedures, test procedures, test reports, and product requirements documentation
  • Take part in NPI activity, including hands-on hardware builds, integration, debugging, and system bring-up
  • Support the design, build, and flight test activity of advanced drone/UAS platforms

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in a design-focused mechanical engineering role
  • Strong problem-solving ability with effective written and verbal communication skills
  • 3+ years of hands-on CAD experience using SolidWorks or similar platforms such as NC, Creo, or AutoCAD
  • Proven experience making system-level design decisions and supporting full lifecycle product development
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles within hardware development environments
  • Experience performing engineering analysis, including FEA, model, thermal, and aerodynamic analysis
  • Proven background in rapid prototyping, new product development, and designing for scalable/high-rate manufacturing 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with BLDC motor design, integration, and validation
  • Exposure to PCB layout, PCB design, and component placement in electromechanical products
  • Experience with flexible PCBs and cable routing for dynamic or motion-critical systems
  • Prior experience in UAV, drone, robotics, autonomous systems, or similar hardware-led environemnts
  • Familiarity with camera systems, imaging modules, and optical component integration
  • Experience working closely with electrical engineering teams to support PCBA layout, DFM/DFX, and production readiness
  • Ability to desing or develop microcontroller-based tools, fixtures, or test hardware for production and system bring-up
  • Knowledge of composite materials such as carbon fiber and fiberglass, including tooling or mold design
  • Experience performing or interpreting thermal aerodynamic, and vibration-related simulations
