ACE Partners is supporting one of their Aviation partners with Test & Instrumentation Engineer opportunity. The Test and Instrumentation Engineer is a member of the engineering team who supports the flight test, stress, and design engineers and is responsible for calibrating, testing, and maintaining measurement and instrumentation equipment in support of the design, development, and validation of helicopter components, structures, and systems.

This role is a full-time direct role with our end client, and will operate fully onsite at their facility in Los Angeles, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Work with engineering teams to design data acquisition systems that meets the needs of the project
  • Configure and install instrumentation on test articles, system test stands, and flight test aircraft
  • Procure, calibrate, maintain, and manage an inventory of test instrumentation and equipment
  • Create and maintain a repository of data acquired from each test or test program
  • Collaborate with engineering to design test fixtures and oversee the manufacture and installation of test fixtures
  • Develop, maintain, and execute test plans for items ranging from components to sub-assemblies to vehicle level systems
  • Operate and understand complex test systems to conduct development and certification tests on structures and systems
  • Implement and maintain systems for storing and post-processing test data
  • Work with data acquisition systems and control systems to continually improve test data recording and system function
  • Develop novel ways to streamline processes and increase the efficiency and reliability of testing operations
  • Develop robust plans to ensure that test capability and capacity is developed in line with projected needs of the organization while providing analysis for the appropriation of capital and ROI

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with data acquisition hardware and software in hands-on testing environments
  • A strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, structures, and systems engineering concepts
  • 2+ years of experience using test instrumentation and control components
  • Experience with control system logic (PID, PLC)
  • Excellent academic record
  • Hands on experience building and maintaining mechanical and electrical systems
  • Experience with reading and understanding drawings and technical manuals, reports and schematics CAD modeling
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be a proven self-starter requiring minimal supervision, with strong problem-solving skills
  • Team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and work well with others

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience with aircraft development and certification testing
  • Experience with NI CompactDAQ, CompactRIO, or DATAQ Instruments data acquisition systems
  • Knowledge in production methods such as machining (milling, drilling, tapping), composite layup, molding, materials and heat treatment
